One Proud Momma!

Miranda has always been an excellent student. She soaks things up so fast and is very eager to learn! It frustrates her to no end if she can't figure something out.

At the beginning of the school year her teacher sent home her first Oral Reading Assessment. She gives them a story, they read it allowed and she times it. After one minute she makes them stop and grades them on how many words they read, how fluent they were, and their comprehension of the story.

On Miranda's first test she scored somewhere in the low 40s. Their current goal for the class is to read 50-60 words per minute, correctly. So you can see she was close, but not quite.

Well, I was amazed when she came home with her most recent reading assessment results!!

Miranda now reads 91 words per minute!!!! Even her teacher wrote, "WOW!!" on her test! LOL! Amazing! I know my baby is smart, but to see how fast she can improve on things is just insane to me. I have no doubt this little girl could be a rocket scientist if she wanted to be, seeing as how she can do anything she sets her mind to! She is definitely one smart cookie! ;) And I am one very proud momma!

Thank God there were NO Salamis!

While in the ocean in Florida, Loren told me she was glad we came. She said she was scared to go, because she thought a salami might get us...I asked what she meant by salami, and she explained, "you know, Mommy, a big wave!" Haha! "Okay Loren, you mean a tsunami!" Loren, "That's what I said Mommy!"

"UPS Feeds Us!"

We passed by a UPS truck, and this is the conversation that followed:

Loren: Mommy, that's a UPS truck.

Me: Yes it is!

Loren: Megan (her step-mom) works for UPS.

Me: I know.

Loren: UPS feeds us.

Me: What? (I giggled)

Loren: UPS feeds us!

Me: How do they feed us?

Loren: I don't know, daddy said they do! He said UPS feeds me!

Apparently, when the girls got very excited over the FedEx plane and signs at the Millington Air Show their dad and Megan took them to, their dad told them he doesn't like FedEx. He said they should like UPS. When the girls asked why, he said, "Because UPS feeds you." LOL, and of course now she thinks UPS literally somehow feeds us all!
